kurseong also known as Land of White Orchids, Kurseong is a hill station located close to Darjeeling famous for its waterfalls, temples and Buddhist gompas apart from the excellent view that the place provides. Perched on the Siliguri-Darjeeling highway and located at an altitude of 4,860 ft. above sea level, Kurseong is an idyllic hill station, nestled in the Serene Hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal. It is just 35 kms. From Darjeeling. Kurseong barely 5 sq. kms. in area in the lap of beautiful Himalaya and valleys has a population of less than 50,000. Kurseong enjoys milder and pleasant weather most times of the year. It is Pleasant climate throughout the year makes Kurseong an attractive Destination for tourists.
Kurseong has a chilly winter but not as severe as Darjeeling.The best times to visit Kurseong are between March end and May and between the end of August and October.Kurseong was ceded to the British Empire by the chogyal (monarch) of Sikkim in 1835. Later in 1880, the small hamlet became a tourist Destination for the colonial authorities and was a preferred place for Sanatoriums where the sick would recuperate.The tourists who are looking for a more peaceful alternative to Darjeeling Can make their way to this small hill-town.
