Kurseong Rail Museum
is one of the three museums of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. This museum is
located in Kurseong railway station. All the rooms of this railway museum are
filled with well-decorated artefacts. In this museum you will see antiques such
as train parts that were used on the original DHR railway tracks in the 1880s.
The walls of the museum are decorated with large pictures that show the Troy
train running through many difficult mountain terrains. The museum has all the information
of the Himalayan Railway, from the used goods to various newspaper clippings
and articles which describe the railway and its history. A hand operated
printing machine built in 1890 is also kept in the museum. It was designed by
London's D.J. Higgins and after decades of railway use, the machine is now
housed in a museum as a heritage piece.
