Darjeeling Himalayan
Railway is the main tourist attraction. It starts from NJP railway station and
passes through many scenic views, hilltops, forests and green tea plantations.
Along with this, there are many places where the TRAIN turns in height and
turns round with the help of a loop. The specialty of this train is that it
passes through many villages, green tea plantations and small markets during
the journey. Everyone including children, old people, youth want to travel in
this train, no one wants to return from Darjeeling without traveling in this train.
This railway was established by the British in 1879 and is the highest and
oldest railway line in the world at a height of about 3000 meters above sea
level. During the British era it was established mainly for shipping and
freight but nowadays it is limited to tourist entertainment, now it is listed
as a World Heritage Site.
