Kalimpong city is
located on two hills between Durbin Dara and Deolo hill. The mountain has an
elevation of 1,704 meters (5,590 ft.) and is the highest point in Kalimpong
town. Deolo hill is located to the northeast of the Kalimpong city. Three water
reservoirs have also been constructed on this hill, which is primarily to
provide drinking water to Kalimpong. Kalimpong town, villages around Relli
Valley, Teesta River and its valleys can all be seen clearly from here Also on
a clear day, the snow clad mountains of West Sikkim like Kanchenjunga etc. Are
also visible from this hill. At the top of this hill, there is a park made for
recreational purposes with different types of flowers. The park is a popular
picnic spot for tourists and locals. Deolo has been converted into a nature
park by the government.
